Comments: Regarding the 2 abstentions on the Libbey Bowl issue, as both a businessman and Festival supporter for 50+ years, I have some empathy with the abstainers. Do we have $1m OR $1.1m in cash?-both figures are cited in the latest OVN. The City has to sign a legally binding contract for the re-model. Will the Contractor agree to be paid as the pledged donations flow or demand payment sooner? If so, how is that met? Is there a renovation Plan B if pledges are not honored or cash falls short? In that the City has a fiduciary responsibility to fill any pledge voids, the desire for more precise data seems justified.

Instead of paying to tear down the vintage lower income cottages on Mallory Way, could they be moved and renovated and continue to provide affordable housing? Perhaps the cost of demolition could be donated by the developers towards these restoration costs and at least some of the homes might be saved. I am sure that if the City facilitated the permits etc and others volunteered or cut their costs, this just might work to retain these homes as part of Ojai's history and offer affordable housing. There must be property owners nearby whose lots could accomodate guest houses or multiple dwellings. I realize that bringing them up to code and the move would be costly but I hope that in the long run, the total costs would actually be justified. Please offer ideas, not criticism.

Last night, Friday Feb 4, at approximately 7:40 pm, I went out into the back yard. I looked up into the sky towards Shelf Road and saw what I thought at first was a helicopter. I soon realized it was not. It was round and completely red with what appeared to be a projection of light rays towards the front of the object. I alerted my sister and her friend and they too saw this mysterious "ball of light", for lack of a better description. It was silent so I knew it wasn't a helicopter and it wasn't a plane - the altitude was initially too low. We watched as it traveled through the night sky to the southwest then it continued upward until it was lost in the high altitude. I have never seen anything like it in my life! Did any other Ojai people see this unknown object? Was it a test drone, a UFO....... I'm very curious to know what it was!
